Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, that is used to stop the so-called e-mail spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one e-mail, but to appear as being sent from a different, typically with the objective to fraud the recipient someway. When SPF protection is activated for a domain name, a special record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers worldwide get it. The record includes all mail servers that are allowed to send valid messages from an email address under the domain. When an email is sent, the first DNS server it goes to verifies the SPF record and in case its sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the target destination. If, however, the sending server is not included in the SPF record for the specified domain, the email message will not be submitted and it'll be discarded. If you use this solution, it'll stop third parties from sending spam that look as if they have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Cloud Website Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for each domain hosted in a cloud website hosting account on our cloud platform with no more than a few mouse-clicks. The option is accessible in the Emails section of our innovative Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to use it is to pick one of your domains from a drop-down list and enter the hostnames plus the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be authorized to send emails from your emails. As an additional option you may also restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain name only if it includes our MX records, i.e. if our servers handle the email addresses for it, not a third-party provider. This option provides you with the top level of protection, but it's not applicable in case only your website is on our servers while the e-mail addresses for the domain name are managed in a different place. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your emails safe from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you have a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you can protect your email addresses by activating the SPF protection service for any domain hosted in the account with just a few mouse-clicks. You can do this in the Emails section of the Hepsia Control Panel which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts and even if you have no previous practical experience with such matters, you will not have any kind of problems to activate the security. The only things that you will need to do will be to choose a domain from a drop-down menu and then type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. When the new record propagates, messages from your emails will be sent around the world only if they're sent from that server. When your e-mail addresses are managed by our company and not by some third-party provider, you can also take advantage of an option for emails to be sent only when the domain name has our MX records and the latter would be the most secure option.
