Alianza Raises $61M to Propel New Era of Cloud Comms for Service Providers

Cloud communications platform Alianza, a platform aiming its services at communications service providers has secured $61 million in new growth equity and debt financing. The company’s value has increased by 70 percent since March 2021, according to the most recent round. Strategic partners and a syndicate of unidentified institutional investors back the latest equity round. Texas Capital Bank supplied the debt finance.

For Alianza, the third quarter of 2023 represented the ninth straight year of revenue increase from quarter to quarter. With over 100 million call lines in North America approaching their end of life and ready to transfer from legacy TDM and softswitch infrastructure to the cloud, the firm says it still has a significant amount of untapped market potential.

To take advantage of the present market prospects and latest funding round, Alianza plans to:

  • Increase sales staff size by 400 percent
  • Quickly fulfill its earlier pledge to spend $200 million in R&D, which will enable cloud communications innovation for service providers

Voice and Unified Communications Solutions

According to Alianza, the need to modernize network infrastructure has only gotten stronger over the last 12 months as the difference between over-the-top (OTT) competitors’ capabilities and legacy network capabilities widens, pushing communications service providers to the sidelines rather than into competition for lucrative service revenue.

To utilize the future advantages of generative AI, service providers must first cloudify their key communications networks, added Alianza. This would be a necessity for offering innovative, next-generation retail solutions.

“As the industry rises to face new market dynamics and rapidly evolving innovations in technology, recent investments in Alianza mark another milestone for the company,” said Brian Beutler, CEO and founder of Alianza. “It reinforces the power of our full-stack capabilities to enable service providers to meet the future from a position of strength,”

According to Brent Kelly, Principal Analyst in Omdia’s Digital Workplace team, “Service providers are looking for next-generation voice and unified communications solutions as their existing infrastructure reaches end-of-life, and they look to improve their positioning in an increasingly competitive market. Service providers need to go beyond being just broadband network operators if they want to prosper. They need to enhance the end-user customer experience while lowering their cost of service delivery. They have to become IT companies instead of telecoms. Alianza is in a good position to support service providers throughout this change.”
